Long story short we have to euthanize our Mastiff, Riley because of behavioral issues that we cannot fix. We’ve tried medications, training, professionals, and holistic remedies. and everything else in the book. After struggling for a year with her it is clear that she is getting worse and is now a danger for those within the house and not just outside of it. Her appointment is on Tuesday. I don’t know how I can get through this. I love her so much and feel so guilty that we couldn’t ‘fix’ her. Please don’t tell me that we didn’t do enough or that we screwed her up. We took her on with problems because we wanted to help her but she was beyond saving. I work at an animal shelter so I have near limitless resources and I really have tried them all and spent around 6,000 dollars on behavior related bill alone. This isn’t from lack of trying. Has anyone else been through this? I could really use some support right now. Okay, seriously what is your problem? I got my dog at 6 months old and she was not properly socialized BY THEM. I tried to turn her around and I DO know what I’m doing. And I did try contacting Cesar Millan along with his many copy-cats and the president of the Mastiff Club of America. What do you not understand about trying everything?It’s a small shelter. We don’t have any sort of grieving support there and to be honest most of my coworkers can’t believe that we’ve held out so long. I have access to many drugs and professionals but none of them have helped her in the least.Pit Police, Blackcat, and Pumpkin Paws, thank you so much for your support.
