Open Question: What do you think of these puppy ownership rules for my son? |
His GF bought him a Siberian Husky without asking us, however we have decided to be gracious and allow him to keep it, even though we really did not want or plan for this.As my son is extremely irresponsible, we have decided to put a few guidelines down-input please!!!*1. If it is my sons dog, the papers are in his name and it lives HEREThe first part, obviously means the papers are in his name and he has full ownership-she needs to transfer the AKC paperwork. The second part means the dog is not going between our home and hers-it needs to think of my house as home, my little kids as family, and there needs to be no confusion about training for the dog (for example-she lets dogs on furniture and we do not…I do not want to cause confusion for the the dog and drag out training). Also she does not take proper care of her animals, and I will no risk infection of my dog, by exposing Fiona to son’s dog who has been around her unvaccinated animals.*2. Son assumes all responsibility for timely vet visits and must have his dog neutered within 6 months. He is also responsible for planning for me to watch the dog if he will be gone, or boarding him. His GF was telling him that we should get our dog spayed, however as this is a male, we are requiring that he be neutered to aid with marking and potential aggression. Besides, that’s not her call, it’s ours. If shots are not taken care of by my son, then he will need to give us ownership and we will care for the dogs veterinary needs*3. Other animals must go. My son has a cat and a ferret that he does not care for, and leaves in unsanitary conditions. These animals will be re-homed by the end of this week4. Son is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting any accidents the dog has.Failure to agree with any of these is a deal-breaker.Any helpful input?
