Dogs Training Blog

I have just gotten a schnoodle puppy. I have named her Elouise. She has no idea what her name is and I feel pretty stupid calling her by name when she doesnt listen, but she comes when I say Come Here. I have never owned a small dog before, and am not sure what to expect. When I lived with my family we had big dogs that were never potty trained because my family was too busy and they were outside 24/7. Until they started running away, so now they have ruined my mothers house inside. I live in an apartment and do not want her to ruin it. I take her out and say “Go potty” and she goes, but when I’m distracted in the house she pees on the floor a little bit. I dont yell at her and I immediately take her out. It’s only happened a handful of times in the past couple days since I got her. She is 4 1/2 months old. She already knows how to sit and come. I’m working on stay and lay down. I want her to be out of her crate so she can eat and drink when she wants and have her freedom but it seems the only foolproof way to her not having an accident is keeping her in there a lot and taking her outside and putting her right in again. I am home 24/7 until January when I start college part time in the spring, so I want her trained by then. I also have no idea how to groom her. She isnt curly like a poodle or a schnauzer. Her top coat is long and fine like people hair.
