Open Question: Need Dietary Supplement & Advise? |
I Rescued a Red Nose a few years ago, and he’s the best dog I have ever had, he’s eight yrs old, and was in rough shape when I got him. But he has now developed very dependent behaviors when I leave even if he has people around. He is chewing on himself and causing a mess bleeding and hurting himself. I have been to the vet ever other day for three weeks and have gotten no where. I believe he’s itchy or nervous, maybe allergy, but I feed him same food, pedigree, fish oil makes him vomit, won’t eat raw foods only dog food, not even a hot dog. He gets hot spots but selectively lets them bother him. He can’t always go with me I have to work and he’s a little protective as he was a “rescue dog”. He busts cones off himself like it’s a game, the big rubber thing doesn’t prevent anything, the vet and I are out of ideas.I would like to change food, on the off chance that is it. What dog food can I give him that does not contain wheat, corn, etc.? Or dietary supplement?Any suggestions on the behavioral problems? Other than the good suggestions about changing the routine a little? He is already trained for a crate and loves it as he had never been inside before I got him. Thanks.
