Open Question: My Chihuahua Puppy has Separation Anxiety. Help?!? |
I think my (almost) 4 month old Chihuahua has Separation Anxiety. She follows me from room to room. I don’t normally let her have free run of the house, because I don’t want her to poop. She stays in my room. Unless I leave to use the restroom, or eat and then she follows. Also I take her with me almost everywhere I go when I leave the house. If I leave her with my bf in his room (she is used to his room, house and him.) And I leave the room. My bf says all she does is cry until I get back. Then when I return she wags her tail all excited and licks my face. (like always) Even when I shower, she is in the bathroom with me sometimes and she’ll stand and cry at the tub until I get out. Or she’ll go into my bf’s room and sit and cry till I return. I just went to the grocery store and left her in the care with my bf. He said all she did was whine and shake. I got her from a byb. Bad I know. But I fell in love with her. I am going to start working again soon. (I am 18) And I’ll have to leave her either alone. Or with my mom and her 2 dogs. But i’m afraid she’ll cry and shake because i am not there. How can I leave the room without her crying?(She is not trained to do anything yet. She is almost potty trained.)I wouldn’t start working for at least 3 weeks (maybe more)Oh, and I’ve read help tips where I can leave for a few seconds then return and all that but thing is… She’s so small and she just runs right out of the room when I leave. And I know to not say goodbye 20 mins before you leave. But she comes with me everywhere I go practically. Please help!Thank you.I read that Crating your dog. Your dog will still engage in anxiety responses in the crate. He may urinate, defecate, howl or even injure himself in an attempt to escape from the crate. And Obedience school. will only make separation Anxiety worse.I mean I read that its bad to Crate your dog.(because she has separation Anxiety)
