Open Question: Is it okay to vary a puppy’s training treats and other neurotic questions from a new pet owner!? |
I’m a first time dog owner and I have so many little questions they don’t answer in the books! First, while I know that it’s best to be consistent with dog food, can I vary the kinds of training treats I give my pup on a weekly basis? Also, I would like to take my puppy to school on Mondays (I only have one class and the prof. is looking forward to meeting him) because I figure it would be good to socialize him with a wide variety of people. How do I keep him calm on the loud rickety transit train I have to take to school? Also, I’ve read various training books and they say when the pup does things wrong to “correct him” but I don’t know what that means exactly. For example, say if he jumps on people, and I say “off” but he keeps jumping. How do I “correct” that? I know it’s a lot of questions, but I’m excited to be a new dog owner and just want the best for my puppy!
