Open Question: How to train dogs to poo in just one small area of a yard?

As it is, they go everywhere and anywhere which leaves us to scout the yard for their turds every day or so. This seems a bit backward to me — the yard seems to be for their pleasure not ours.We have 4 dogs, and the layout of the house and yard does not allow us to direct or force all dogs to one area (like a dog run). So I am looking for a way to entice, rather than coerce, the dogs to use one area. For example, do all dogs like to have a nice smooth gravel surface (like a kitty litter area) as opposed to grass? I’m afraid that they would choose the grass over any other area, but I may be wrong.BTW, they’re not my dogs but I do have some say in how to “toilet train” them, if that’s even possible.Basically I’m looking for a way to use the dog’s own personality/nature to lure them to just one place where we could go to clean up after them.As you may have guessed, I’m a cat person.
