Open Question: Do you believe an owner can understand their dog?

From a previous question, I do agree that many people do not read their dogs. But for those of us who work hard to train and to learn their mannerisms, do you think it is possible for us to understand them properly? I know it is impossible to predict their every thought, but to know how they would react in most situation? And why yes, or why no?I absolutely know what my dogs are thinking, my 13 year old mutt since I have known her more than half my life, and my corgi as she is very expressive in her facial features. I can’t understand why people don’t put more effort into knowing their dogs, why have one if you don’t have anything to do with it?
