Open Question: Biggest issues with those discarded dogs? |
What has been your biggest issue with those dogs that many people seem to think are just someones garbage? I mean, the strays and the shelter dogs!I have 4 discarded dogs. 2 strays from the street and 2 dogs from the shelters. The biggest issue I have ever had to deal with is housebreaking them…(Which is no difference then you would with a puppy). My aunt is one of those people that would never adopt a dog because she is just under the impression that they aren’t trustworthy or that they aren’t good dogs. She thinks you have to have a puppy and raise it yourself in order for it to be any good. What obstacles have you most commonly had to overcome with your adopted/rescued/fostered dogs.*************************************About my discarded canines (optional portion):Bingo-Border Collie-Left as a stray. He needed work with housebreaking and a little bit of chewing when he was bored but was very easy to train.Raven-Adopted. Chow Retriever mix. She had been through a number of other owners. Most commonly she would just run away and they wouldn’t come take her back (microchipped). We got her and she has never run away. She just needed some housebreaking. Once again it was simple with a crate.Nikki-Adopted. Chow Mix. She is the most loyal dog EVER! She needed work with housebreaking and jumping fences (not that she went anywhere). Easy!Dog (Sassy but mostly Dog)-Stray from the streets. She seems to be a pomeranian mix. The only issue we have had to work with is housebreaking.I just wish more people would realize that they dogs don’t automatically have at least a notebook page full of problems. All the dogs mentioned are people friendly animal friendly kid friendly canines.
