Open Question: Another convcing your parents for a dog question? |
Ok so for years and years I’ve wanted a dog, and I’ve come up with so many different ways of getting one (even fostering) and my mom has listened to them all, when I was younger she would say no instantly (I don’t blame her haha) and now that I’m in my teenage years, she seems to take me more seriously.Anyways, I really would love to get this dog. She’s perfect. She’s good with cats, other dogs (so we can have play dates with my cousin’s dog), and is already leash trained and what not. Not to mention she’s 3 years, the age I was looking for! The only issue is, we still can’t get one. I’ve worked out a schedule, have financial plans, we already have a vet because of our 2 cats, and it’s all falling into place on my part. One of our kitties loves dogs, the other male is protective but is declawed and neutered, and he got used to our 2nd cat after throwing a huge temper tantrum (he’s spoiled) and now they’re best friends. So I know that’s not an issue…Not to mention my mom says “I want a dog but we can’t get one right now” and she really loves dogs! I don’t get why she’d still say no when everything is all worked out.I just don’t see what’s left. Any tips? How’d you convince your parents? Don’t give me the “when you move out own one” speech because my mom is an animal lover and really does want a dog…Oh, and don’t say “maybe she’ll think she’ll have to take care of it.”No. I train dogs, I need a jogging buddy (partially why I want one), and I need some responsibilty and structure in my life. I’ve fully prepared myself. That’s why I didn’t choose a puppy, because I knew I wouldn’t have the time to take care of it. I’ve always wanted to rescue a 3-4 year old dog.
