Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine endorces the use of No Bark Cintronella Collars. When your dog barks it sets off a spray of cintronella, harmless but effective. Quiets the dog, you praise and reward dog for stopping barking. Very quickly dog learns that it's barking sets off the spray, and will be quiet when wearing the collar. You need to continue to buy batteries and refill spray citronella. Cornell found the collar to be 80% effective in No Bark training.

Teach your dog a no Bark command using the collar. Transfer the command by teaching a command to bark at the same time as command to be Quiet...while dog is not wearing the Collar.

One draw back...other loud noises can set off the spray devise on the collar. Other dogs barking nearby, banging a pot, something falling over, the banging of a teeter board in agility.

I've used this collar successfully on a young sheltie, who also used to bark at anything and everything. She wore the collar off and on for about 18 months. She doesn't wear it at all now, and she barks a lot less, and usually quiets immediately when I tell her "Quiet".

Buy it a pet specialty stores, if they don't have it...ask for it. Search for it online..purchase online.

I have a friend whose dog barked at everything especially other animals. She got a shock collar for him, it took her a while to finally use it but now that she does her dog doesnt bark. The ones with different levels of power work the best.

I have a mini dachshund and tried one of those bark collars last year - it actually worked really good but the batteries died fast, but I think that might have been a defect. You can get them at Petsmart. The one I had just made a loud piercing noise when he barked, but you can get some that shock (I don't really recommend that) or the kind that spray up water in their face. Good luck!
